ROBERT HICKS is a member of the Executive Committee and the Partner-in-Charge of the Indianapolis offices of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. He is a 1986 graduate of the William and Mary Law School, Williamsburg, Virginia, where he was Order of the Coif and a member of the William and Mary Law Review. He is a 1984 graduate of Butler University, Indianapolis, where he earned high honors in accounting. He passed the CPA Exam in May 1984 and started his career as a tax professional with Arthur Andersen in Indianapolis. Mr. Hicks focuses his practice on complex business and commercial transactions, private equity and venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, structured financings, business advisory services, and structural tax matters. He serves as outside Lead Counsel for the two largest private equity funds in Indiana. Mr. Hicks took a five year hiatus from the private practice of law from 1996 through 2001 (working in Chicago and New York) and gained substantial experience in Wall Street transactional work and as a corporate executive. During that period, Mr. Hicks served as Executive Vice President, Strategic Development for the CIT Group, the second largest finance company in the United States (and its predecessor, Newcourt Credit Group), President of its largest U.S. financing division, and CEO of RealMed Corporation, its largest portfolio company. For several years, Mr. Hicks has been named to the lists of Indiana Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers, where he is recognized as one of Indiana’s leading corporate merger and acquisition attorneys.
